Lambussie Member of Parliament, Prof. Titus Beyuo, has dismissed calls from the Minority in Parliament for the suspension of Sammy Gyamfi, the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, calling the demands baseless and politically motivated.

Beyuo’s defense follows mounting public criticism and political pressure over a viral video showing Sammy Gyamfi handing what appeared to be U.S. dollars to Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, also known as Nana Agradaa, a controversial evangelist and former fetish priestess.

In an interview on Tuesday morning, Prof. Beyuo admitted that the optics were unfavorable but maintained that no legal or procedural rules had been violated.

“He has recognised that with what he did, even though it was not a crime, it doesn’t inure to be good for the government, to the person who appointed me, and to the people I am serving, which is why he called that indiscretion.”

He added that there is no legal basis for disciplinary action under the existing regulations.

“But I am saying that the offenses listed under which specific punishment will apply, we don’t see that here”.

Prof. Beyuo stated that the presidency was handling the matter appropriately and urged critics to let the process take its course.

“I see the call by the Minority, honestly, to be baseless. The presidency is determined to deal with it, let us leave it as such,” he added.
