Ghana National Service Authority cracks down on dual income earners

The Ghana National Service Authority (GNSA) has issued a strong warning to National Service Personnel who are simultaneously engaged in full-time employment, particularly within the public sector, to immediately regularize their status or face severe sanctions.
In a press release dated May 19, 2025, the Authority called on all such individuals to report to any of its Regional Offices across the country or the Head Office in Accra.
This directive comes in the wake of the submission of full enrolment lists for the following categories to the Controller and Accountant General’s Department for verification:
•General Enrolment (2024/2025)
•Nurses Enrolment (2025/2026)
•Teachers Enrolment (2025/2026)
The exercise is intended to identify individuals unlawfully receiving dual income from both national service allowances and salaries from full-time employment, an act deemed a violation of the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119).
According to GNSA, affected personnel must voluntarily comply by Friday, May 23, 2025, to avoid strict administrative actions. Failure to comply will result in immediate deletion from the national service payroll, potential prosecution, and permanent disqualification from future public service engagement.
