The Ghana National Service Authority (GNSA) has issued a directive compelling National Service Personnel who unlawfully collected dual incomes to immediately refund their allowances and regularize their service status.

In a press release dated May 22, 2025, the directive affects individuals currently undertaking National Service who were also found to be engaged in full-time employment, especially within the public sector.

The GNSA emphasized that such dual engagements contravene the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119).

The verification process prompting this directive involved the submission of full enrollment lists from three key service categories; General Enrolment(2024/2025), Nurses Enrolment(2025/2026), and Teachers Enrolment(2025/2026) to the Controller and Accountant General’s Department.

Identified offenders are required to refund the total amount of National Service allowances received during their period of dual employment. Payments are to be made into the following account:

Bank Name: CBG

Account Name: National Service Authority

Account Number: 2343004100001

Branch: Manet Tower 3

Once payments are made, affected individuals must present their pay-in receipts at the nearest Regional Office of the GNSA or the Head Office in Accra to regularize their status.

The deadline for compliance is two weeks from the date of the press release.

GNSA warns that failure to comply will result in severe penalties, including referral for prosecution, disciplinary action by primary employers, and permanent disqualification from future public service opportunities.

The Authority is urging all affected persons to act swiftly and responsibly, reaffirming its commitment to integrity, accountability, and transparency in the administration of National Service.
