The Supreme Court has rejected an objection by the Attorney General that sought to remove Justice Scott Pwamang, Justice Adibu-Asiedu, and other members of the committee investigating the potential removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo from the list of defendants in the ongoing case.

Chief Justice Torkonoo, who is currently suspended, is challenging the proceedings of the Justice Pwamang-led committee, seeking an injunction to halt their work while also pursuing constitutional interpretation of key legal questions.

The Attorney General’s office argued that the committee members were not explicitly named as parties intended to be affected by the suit and should therefore be removed.

However, former Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame contended that the reliefs being sought clearly implicate the committee members, making them necessary parties in the case.

A five-member Supreme Court panel, chaired by Acting Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, ruled against the Attorney General’s objection, ensuring that the committee members remain involved as the proceedings continue.
