Assin South MP Rev. John Ntim Fordjour has slammed the government over the Free SHS feeding system.

According to him, the NPP’s earlier approach was better and the NDC’s promises were misleading.

Rev. Fordjour stated that the NPP has been vindicated, implying that their method of handling the feeding system was more effective.

He criticized President John Mahama and the NDC for making promises that didn’t materialize.

Speaking in an interview, Rev. Fordjour recounted the structure of food supply under the NPP government, highlighting what he sees as shortcomings in the current system.

“We were supplying about 70% of the food, and then 30% was directly paid to the schools to buy perishables. We were supplying about 70% of the food, and then 30% was directly paid to the schools to buy perishables” he said.

He acknowledged the idea sounded good, but he questioned its feasibility and accused the government of failing to deliver their words.

“President Mahama on many occasions stood on platforms and said, ‘We are going to send all the money directly to the headmasters so they can go to the markets and buy goat meat and the rest,’ and the students were happy”.

“I personally thought it was a brilliant idea if they were able to implement it. But again, I came back to predict that they will not be able to do it. And I said to Ghanaians boldly and clearly that I am not predicting doom, but President Mahama cannot fulfil that. And whoever becomes the Minister for Education will not be able to fulfil that promise Clearly, I have been vindicated. We’ve been scammed” he emphasized.

Rev. Fordjour argued that this new system is even worse than what the NPP had in place and he warned against the rush to criticise when in opposition.
