In the early hours of Monday, June 2, a Toyota Hiace vehicle carrying 15 passengers veered off the Koforidua–Adukrom road at Mile 44, narrowly avoiding a tragic accident.
Among those on board were a pregnant woman and several children, all of whom miraculously escaped unharmed.
The vehicle with registration number GT 5160-17, was travelling from Ashaiman to Koforidua when the crash occurred, leaving several passengers with minor injuries.
Eyewitnesses at the scene revealed that there were no fatalities.
Coincidentally, the Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Awatey, who was en route to Odumase for an official engagement, arrived shortly after the crash.
She and her team swiftly assisted in the rescue efforts, ensuring injured passengers were transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Personnel from the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service later arrived at the scene and have begun investigations into the cause of the accident.
