Jurors at the Accra High Court have officially withdrawn their services, effective Monday, June 2, citing the non-payment of their allowances for the past eight months.

Despite repeated appeals to the Judicial Service and formal notifications to the Acting Chief Justice, the jurors say they have received no concrete assurances regarding when their arrears will be settled.

Speaking to the media, spokesperson for the group, Joshua Alorgbey, expressed frustration over the prolonged delay.

“We are in the eighth month, and they have not paid the jurors as I speak. The jurors have served a notice to the Acting Chief Justice and the Judicial Service that they are embarking on a strike from today, June 2”

Alorgbey further revealed that discussions with the Judicial Service began in October 2024 but have not yielded results.

“We had a series of meetings with the Acting Chief Justice and the Judicial Service. The series of meetings began in October 2024, but they kept postponing it. The legal year will end very soon. What will become of our money? We cannot continue refinancing or going to court anymore”.
