The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has officially reopened its investigation into former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah, following a request from its new leadership.

Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng confirmed that EOCO sought the case docket, prompting his office to forward a duplicate file for review and potential investigation.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) first launched an inquiry in July 2023 into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences tied to Ms. Dapaah and her associates.

After nearly seven months of investigation, including a parallel probe by the FBI, no direct evidence of corruption was found.

However, authorities identified strong indications of suspected money laundering and financial structuring issues beyond the OSP’s direct mandate.

In January 2024, the OSP referred the case to EOCO to investigate potential financial crimes.

EOCO initially returned the docket, citing jurisdictional limitations, but has now decided to take up the case once again under its new leadership.

The OSP has pledged full support for EOCO’s review and possible further action.
