The Ministry of Education has announced the establishment of Resolution Centres to assist 2025 BECE candidates facing challenges with Senior High School (SHS) admissions.

However, Principal Information Officer at the Ministry of Education, Larry George Botchway, emphasized that once a candidate finalizes their school choices, changes will not be permitted.

In an interview, he stated that in previous years, many parents showed up at GES offices requesting changes to the schools their children had been placed in, often claiming they were unaware of the selection made.

He therefore urged parents to take an active role in the school selection process, stressing that the Ministry will not allow any changes once a student has been placed in a school this year.

He added that each candidate must select a total of seven schools, five main choices and two alternatives in order of preference. Among the five main schools, at least three must be boarding institutions, while two should be day schools.

He also encouraged candidates and their guardians to consider selecting more schools from Category C to help reduce the high demand for Category A schools.

He emphasized that many parents and students hold the perception that Category C schools are inferior to those in Category A.

However, he clarified that there are many quality schools in Category C and encouraged families to consider them in order to ease the pressure on oversubscribed Category A schools.
