As Ghana marks the 10th anniversary of the tragic June 3rd disaster, survivors continue to share their struggles in the aftermath of the devastating incident.

One of the victims, Solomon, has revealed that his life took a drastic turn after the event, leaving him physically and financially broken.

Speaking to Happy Kaseɛbɔ during a commemoration event, Solomon disclosed that the disaster left him with severe injuries, making it impossible for him to return to work.

As a result, he has been unable to support his family, leading to his wife abandoning him. “Since I can’t provide for her anymore, she left me,” he lamented, expressing the emotional toll the situation has taken on him.

Despite government interventions and support from non-governmental organizations, Solomon emphasized that he has received no aid to help him regain his livelihood.

Unlike other victims who have benefited from relief efforts, he continues to struggle with no assistance. “My mother has been taking care of me and my children ever since I recovered from my injuries,” he said.

His plea highlights the long-lasting consequences of disasters beyond the immediate physical destruction.

Many survivors still battle financial instability, emotional distress, and societal neglect.

As Ghana reflects on the lessons learned from the June 3rd disaster, calls for sustained government support, community-driven assistance, and improved disaster preparedness remain crucial.

Solomon’s story is a reminder that recovery is not just about rebuilding structures but also about restoring lives. His appeal for help serves as a wake-up call for authorities and organizations to ensure that no victim is left behind.
