President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to Ghana’s exporters, underscoring their vital role in the nation’s economic stability.

In an interaction with the Federation of Association of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE) at the Jubilee House today, he emphasized the importance of supporting export businesses to strengthen Ghana’s economy.

“Your association is so critical to Ghana’s economy. You are the ones who bring the dollars in, and so we have to give you pride of place in terms of facilitating your businesses.”

As part of efforts to foster growth, the president highlighted his 24-hour economy policy, positioning exporters as key partners in achieving economic objectives.

He also referenced the Accelerated Export Development Advisory Committee, which he personally chairs, as a platform to eliminate bottlenecks that hinder business operations.

“We will hold regular meetings and have the opportunity to discuss the challenges that affect your businesses at the highest level. We will hold the responsible ministers accountable, tracking progress to ensure that the necessary changes are made to create a better opportunity for your businesses to thrive.”

President Mahama further touched on Ghana’s recent budget, presented in March, which aimed to correct past financial missteps and stabilize the macroeconomic environment.

He pointed to positive economic indicators such as the appreciation of the cedi, deficit reduction, and renewed investor confidence, suggesting that the government’s fiscal policies are yielding tangible results.

“I can assure you that in managing the economy, together with the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Bank, you can count on us to ensure we manage the economy properly. Because if we don’t, it affects your businesses”.

With a strong focus on implementing the National Export Development Strategy, Mahama underscored his vision of Ghana transitioning to a net exporter rather than an importer, reinforcing his administration’s drive toward sustained economic growth.
