The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams has condemned the incident at Ayinase which led to Nations FC boycotting a Ghana Premier League game against Basake Holy Stars.

Nations FC on Sunday, June 1, 2025, boycotted their match day 33 game against Basake Holy Stars and accused the referee of favoring the home team after a second penalty was awarded against them.

Reacting to the incident, Kofi Adams expressed his disappointment about the happenings in Ayinase which led to the abrupt end of the Ghana Premier League week 33 game between Nations FC and Basake Holy Stars.

“I have been informed about the unfortunate incident, but I have not received the full briefing on the incident as to what went in and what was not done.”

“However, investigations are ongoing, but it is unfortunate that we continue to have such situations. What must be done is to have proper education of the club owners, even before the fans.”

Kofi Adams insisted that some club owners and managers need to be educated about the rules of the game since they seem clueless about them to prevent incidents like this from happening again.

“Some of the club owners seem not to be up to the task beyond owning the clubs. Some club managers are clueless about what football is all about. We need to spend time to deal with such a category of persons also, even before we talk to the fans, the officiating officials, and match commissioners,” he added.
