Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, and Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, has clarified that holiday data bundle offers do not apply to religious holidays such as Eid-Ul-Adha.
This clarification follows questions from the public about whether the Eid celebration qualifies for the special data bundles previously announced. Responding in a tagged reply to a Ghanaian netizen on X (formerly Twitter), the Minister stressed that the holiday bundle initiative is strictly reserved for national holidays recognized for their civic importance.
“I was clear when I announced the holiday packages and the records are there to check from. The holiday bundles were specific to national day holidays – Independence, Workers, Republic, Founder’s and Farmers Days.”
He further explained that Eid-Ul-Adha, being a religious holiday, does not fall under this category and is therefore not eligible for any special data bundle offers.
“Religious holidays like Easter, Christmas, Eid – Fitr and Eid – Adha were not included. Thanks,” he added.
