The Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for establishing the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, scheduled for July 1, 2025.

He described the move as a bold and timely decision to seek divine intervention for Ghana’s challenges.

During a courtesy call by the event’s planning committee, led by Chairman Elvis Afriyie Ankrah on June 9, Archbishop Duncan-Williams emphasized the importance of national gratitude, warning that failure to acknowledge one’s Creator often leads to decline.

“It’s a good initiative, it’s normally not done. It’s important that we commend the President and the whole committee for the efforts they have made to come together to set a day aside in the year to give thanks,” he stated.

The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving will feature a Christian prayer service at the forecourt of the State House from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by Muslim prayers at the National Mosque from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Simultaneous prayer sessions will also take place across all 16 regions and 275 districts.

Archbishop Duncan-Williams stressed that gratitude is vital to both individual and national well-being.

He praised the initiative, highlighting its potential to unite citizens in faith and reflection.
