The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has given the green light to the 2025/26 GFA Omnibus Competitions Calendar following a detailed presentation by the General Secretary during a meeting held on June 9, 2025.

The upcoming football season will officially begin on July 1, 2025, and run through to June 30, 2026—perfectly aligned with both the GFA Statutes and the Association’s accounting year.

In designing the calendar, the GFA strategically accounted for the 23rd FIFA World Cup, which takes place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, ensuring that all elite local competitions are concluded before the global tournament begins.

Key Highlights of the 2025/26 Competitions Calendar:

* Ghana Premier League: Matches will continue to be played on Sundays, with midweek slots reserved for outstanding fixtures—similar to the 2024/25 format.

* Division One & Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League: These leagues will also follow the Sunday matchday schedule.

* MTN FA Cup: Only selected fixtures in the Round of 64 and Round of 63 may be played midweek. All Women’s FA Cup matches will take place on weekends.

* eTrophy (GFA eFootball Competition): The popular eTrophy competition returns, offering gamers a chance to shine and compete for national team slots.

* Beach Soccer & Futsal Premier Leagues: These competitions remain integral to the season’s programming.

* Regional Leagues: All RFA-managed leagues, including Division Two, Division Three, Regional Women’s Division One, and the Boys and Girls Colts (U13, U15, U17), will begin by October 1, 2025, and end by May 31, 2026.

* Girls Colts Expansion: As part of the Women’s Football Strategy, Girls Colts competitions (U15 and U17) will be rolled out nationwide, building on pilot programs in Greater Accra and the Northern Region. The initiative is in collaboration with FIFA and the Ten Regional Football Associations.

* Off-Season Tournaments: The calendar includes space for Elite U15 Girls, Elite U19 Second Division, Boys U15 Elite, and the KGL Foundation U17 Colts Championships.

The GFA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a vibrant, competitive, and well-organized football season across all levels.
