Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has expressed his readiness to engage with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in its ongoing corruption investigation, despite a tense legal standoff regarding his mode of participation.

Speaking in an interview, Prof. Mrs. Angela Ofori-Atta, wife of the former minister, reiterated her husband’s willingness to cooperate with the OSP’s inquiries.

“He is ready to talk to the Special Prosecutor so that the investigation can continue. First of all, he said, ‘You can ask my lawyers whatever questions you want to ask, and I will respond through my lawyers.’ Secondly, he has said, ‘If you would rather talk to me, please let’s do a video interview.”

However, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, has insisted on Mr. Ofori-Atta’s physical presence for questioning, rejecting the proposal for a remote interview.

According to Mr. Agyebeng, a suspect in a criminal probe cannot dictate the methods of the investigative body.

“The OSP will not countenance such conduct,”he stated, reaffirming that legal proceedings must follow standard protocols.

Amid the unfolding legal proceedings, Prof. Ofori-Atta also confirmed that her husband recently underwent successful surgery for prostate cancer at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

The robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy, which took place on June 13, lasted over four hours.

“The doctors are pleased with how the procedure went and will now place him on a postoperative regimen”.
