The Africa-China Centre for Policy and Advisory (ACCPA) has officially kicked off the Ghana-China Media Fellowship 2025, a twelve-week initiative designed to elevate Ghanaian media professionals’ capacity to report on China-Africa relations with clarity and depth.

Fifteen accomplished journalists from TV, radio, newspapers, and online platforms joined the inaugural cohort following a highly competitive selection process. The first session was held at ACCPA’s headquarters in North Legon, Accra, on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Paul Frimpong, Executive Director of ACCPA and facilitator of the opening session, commented, “The media plays a vital role in shaping public perception. Through this fellowship, we aim to equip journalists to lead the conversation around Africa-China engagement with facts, context, and balanced perspectives.”

Reflecting on the program’s relevance, Sylvia Sinkari, ACCPA’s Projects Lead and Research Fellow, noted: “China’s expanding presence in Africa makes it crucial that our journalists are adequately prepared to cover these developments with depth and nuance.”

Participants responded enthusiastically. Sandra Ampofoa Ofosu from Metro TV said, “I truly commend ACCPA for this opportunity. It was a powerful and eye-opening start to what promises to be a life-changing experience.”

Esther Ampomah Larbi of JoyNews TV added, “Thank you to the entire organizing team. The first session was engaging and enlightening. I’m excited for what the coming weeks will bring.”

The fellowship will run over twelve consecutive Saturdays, blending academic learning with practical exposure to China’s role in Ghana and beyond.
