Member of Parliament for Kumawu Constituency, Ernest Yaw Anim, has condemned the recent altercation between two male teachers at a school in Pepease, describing the incident as “a disgrace to the teaching profession.”

According to reports, the teachers engaged in a physical fight on school grounds over a personal dispute involving a female colleague.

The confrontation, which allegedly occurred in the presence of students, has sparked outrage within the community and beyond.

In a statement, Mr Anim stressed that such behavior is “highly unacceptable and unprofessional,” adding that educators must uphold high standards of discipline and serve as role models for students.

“If our educators cannot model responsible behavior. we risk sending the wrong message to the very students they are meant to guide and inspire.”

Calling on the Ghana Education Service (GES) to launch an immediate investigation, the MP urged the application of appropriate sanctions to preserve the integrity of Ghana’s learning institutions.

He further encouraged the school’s administration to provide psychological support to students who may have been traumatized by the incident.

“This shameful episode not only brings disrepute to the school and the wider educational community but undermines the authority and respect that teachers are meant to embody,”.

The MP called for unity and renewed commitment to professionalism in Ghana’s schools, stating, “Our educators must be shining examples our children can look up to, not fear or question.”

The GES has yet to issue an official response.
