The Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Abla Dzifa Gomashie has called on the media to play a vital role in promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage and strengthening the message of unity and pride embodied in the 2025 PANAFEST and Emancipation Day celebrations.

Speaking at the official launch of the 17th edition of the Panafest and Emancipation 2025 at Tourism Information Centre, Accra, on Monday, June 23, the Minister emphasized that the success of Ghana’s cultural vision hinges on the active involvement and support of the media.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, the success of this vision cannot be realized without the unwavering support of the media, your presence here today is testament to your shared commitment to Ghana’s cultural renaissance,” she stated.

She urged the press to help amplify the visibility of PANAFEST and Emancipation Day, which have become globally significant platforms for reconnecting people of African descent with their roots.

“We call on you not only to amplify the visibility of PANAFEST and Emancipation Day, but to help us tell the world that Ghana is not just a destination, it is a recall of all African children,” she added.
The Minister encouraged all Ghanaians to embrace the spirit of unity, cultural pride, and collective healing as the nation prepares to host visitors from across the globe.

Quoting Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the Minister emphasized a powerful note: “We face neither East nor West. We face forward, and forward we must go together,” she said.

The 2025 edition of PANAFEST and Emancipation Day, running from July 17 to August 2, is themed “ Let us Speak of Reparative Justice – Pan African Artistic Activism” and promises a rich blend of commemorative, cultural, and developmental events aimed at strengthening the bond between Ghana and the global African family.
