The National Labour Commission (NLC) has directed the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) to suspend its intended industrial action, as efforts are made to resolve a dispute involving the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

In a statement released on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, the Commission confirmed receipt of a petition from GAUA and referenced an earlier directive issued on June 9. That directive instructed both GAUA and GTEC to engage in dialogue over concerns of alleged non-compliance with an earlier ruling.

The NLC has set July 9, 2025, as the deadline for both parties to report the outcome of their engagements.

Additionally, GTEC has been ordered to submit a formal response to the allegation of non-compliance by close of business on Friday, June 27, and to provide documentary evidence if it has already complied with the Commission’s directives.

“The Union is therefore directed to refrain from any intended action per paragraph 5 of the Union’s letter under reference since parties are scheduled to appear before the Commission on 9th July, 2025 at 11:00 am for reporting,” the statement read.
