The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has arrested five additional individuals as part of its ongoing investigation into alleged corruption and related offences linked to revenue assurance contracts between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).

Those arrested include prominent former public officials and associates of SML. They are:

1. Evans Adusei, Chief Executive Officer of SML,
2. Philip Mensah, a former Deputy Commissioner (Legal) at GRA and now Legal Consultant to SML
3. Kofi Nti, former Commissioner-General of GRA
4. Joseph Kuruk, official of the Public Procurement Authority.
5. Faustina Adjorkor, official of the Public Procurement Authority.

Three of the suspects were held overnight after failing to meet bail conditions, but all five were later granted bail.

These arrests add to a growing list of individuals implicated in the scandal, following the earlier detention of Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, former Commissioner-General of GRA, Isaac Crentsil, former Commissioner of Customs and now General Manager at SML and Christian Tetteh Sottie, former Technical Advisor at GRA and now Managing Director of SML.

The investigation is focused on examining the legality of the contracts awarded to SML, the procurement processes involved, and the financial impact on the state.

The OSP is also scrutinising SML’s claims that its services have generated substantial revenue savings for the government.
