The Dansoman Circuit Court has adjourned proceedings in a high-profile fraud case involving the popular Ghanaian actor Samuel Seth Karikari, known widely as Koo Ofori, until August 13, 2025.

The adjournment was granted after the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, informed the court that they were unable to submit their disclosures due to the investigator’s absence. Judge El-Alawa Abdul-Baasit approved the request, scheduling the next session for a Case Management Conference.

Karikari, a familiar face from the beloved television show Efiewura, is facing a charge of defrauding by false pretences.

He has entered a not guilty plea and is currently out on bail, set at GH¢320,000, with three sureties required each to be justified.

At the heart of the case is a land deal gone awry. The complainant, Dr. Emy Oduro-Burton, a Ghanaian medical professional based in the United States, was allegedly misled into purchasing a piece of land in Spintex.

In 2021, Karikari reportedly offered her a full 70×100 foot plot for $50,000 (GH¢309,000). She transferred the funds directly to his bank account.

However, according to prosecutors, only GH¢170,000 was passed on to the actual landowner, Kwaku Danso, who is also a witness in the case.

When Dr. Oduro-Burton visited the property, she discovered it was only half a plot not the full size she was promised.

Despite numerous attempts to reclaim the remainder of her funds, no resolution was reached, leading her to file a formal police complaint.

During subsequent investigations, Karikari is said to have admitted to the act in his caution statement.
