The Deputy National Director of NADMO, Samuel Aboagye, has issued a strong warning to individuals and developers who build on waterways, cautioning them of dire consequences.
He gave the warning during the 10th Anniversary celebration of Asonkore M/A JHS in the Obuasi East Municipality of the Ashanti Region. The event aimed to educate residents on how to manage sanitation and flooding issues in their communities.
Speaking to the media Mr. Aboagye blamed most flooding cases on the unchecked practice of building in waterlogged areas. He explained that illegal mining waste, poor sanitation practices, and clogged drainage systems also worsen the situation.
Mr. Aboagye urged the public to stop dumping refuse in gutters and called on communities to hold offenders accountable. He emphasized that NADMO will not hesitate to demolish any structure found in waterways.
He insisted that curbing galamsey, improving sanitation, and enforcing building regulations would significantly reduce flooding in the country.
