New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Ablekuma North, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie says she is prepared to contest the July 11 election and is confident of victory, despite her party’s declaration on boycotting the parliamentary rerun.

Speaking passionately ahead of the rerun, Afriyie thanked God for guiding her through what she described as a challenging seven-month electoral battle.

“We are fully prepared, and in the first place, to Almighty God for protecting us throughout the seven months”.

Afriyie revealed that initial results had placed her ahead of her opponent after collation from 78 polling stations, stating, “I am leading with 349… darkness can never cover light. I am the light.”

The EC had ordered a rerun in 19 polling stations, citing verification issues, a decision contested by the NPP.

The party maintains that its candidate already won and should be declared victor without another vote.

“I am contesting this election, and I am coming out victorious. I keep saying you can never cheat me. The Lord is going to talk tomorrow, just as we prayed down tomorrow.”

Though her party’s national leadership insists on boycotting the rerun, Afriyie has chosen to break ranks, reaffirming her belief that justice will prevail.

“I want the big mama of everybody to hear me and hear my voice, I am contesting this election”.
