The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the nationwide reinstatement of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) across all pre-tertiary schools following a directive from President John Dramani Mahama.

A press release issued and signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES on Thursday, July 17, emphasized that the move is aimed at enhancing collaboration among parents, communities, and educators to improve the delivery of quality education to Ghanaian learners.

According to the release, all heads of Public Senior High, Technical, and STEM Schools have been directed to begin the operationalisation of PTAs with immediate effect. The directive forms part of efforts to deepen stakeholder engagement in the education sector.

“The move is aimed at strengthening the collaboration and involvement of parents, communities, and teachers in the delivery of quality education,” the statement read.

GES also assured the public that detailed guidelines on the structure, roles, and financial accountability systems of PTAs will be issued in due course. These guidelines are expected to promote transparency, uniformity, and efficiency in the operations of PTAs across the country.

The Service appealed to all stakeholders to support the effective implementation of this policy.
