The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing the welfare, professionalism, and capacity of the Ghana Armed Forces during a nearly 11-hour working visit to the 1 Garrison of the Ghana Armed Forces.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page, Dr. Boamah detailed the extensive visit, highlighting tours of key military installations including the Eastern Naval Command, Michel Camp, and the Army Recruits Training School (ARTS).

According to him, the tour offered firsthand insight into the high level of professionalism and sacrifice exhibited by the country’s military personnel.

He revealed that the visit to the Eastern Naval Command included inspection of strategic naval installations, while at Michel Camp, he observed troops demonstrate their skill in marine ecosystem surveillance and the safe disposal of explosive devices.

At ARTS, the Defence Minister noted preparations are underway to recruit and train 12,000 new personnel into the Ghana Armed Forces, comprising intakes for both the Army Recruits Training School and the Ghana Military Academy.

“Let me repeat: Recruitment and enlistment into the Ghana Armed Forces is not for sale, and will not be for sale under my #EAGLEEYES watch,” Dr. Boamah emphasized.

The minister and his team also inspected medical facilities within the garrison and addressed challenges to improve healthcare delivery for military personnel.

He commended Commodore Asiedu-Larbi and the entire command team for their tireless efforts in maintaining operational efficiency and professionalism.

Dr. Boamah assured the troops that under President John Mahama’s Resetting Ghana agenda, government will continue to prioritize their welfare and safety.
