Students have been cautioned to steer clear of drugs and teenage pregnancy to safeguard their future and fulfill their aspirations.

Speaking at the 2025 Ashanti Regional Inter-Schools Cultural Competition, the Aboafuohene of Asante Juaben, Nana Kwaku Yeboah Kankam, emphasized the dangers of drug use and its damaging effects on health, education, and personal development.

The event, held at Agogo State College in the Asante Akyem North Municipality, brought together students from basic schools across Bosome Freho, Juaben, Ejisu, and Asante Akyem Central, South, and North districts. The young participants showcased traditional dances, poetry, and other cultural displays in a celebration of Ghana’s heritage.

Nana Kwaku urged students to remain focused on their education and avoid actions that could derail their future. He described teenage pregnancy as a growing concern that can limit opportunities for young girls and negatively impact their academic journey.

Also addressing the gathering, Doris Opokua, the Cultural Coordinator at the Asante Akyem North Education Directorate, stressed the importance of preserving Ghana’s cultural identity. She called on educators, parents, and community leaders to use platforms like the cultural festival to instill cultural pride and values in younger generations.
