The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has officially reduced the fee for acquiring an ordinary Ghanaian passport from GHS500.00 to GHS350.00, according to a statement by the sector Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page, the Minister noted that the amended Fees and Charges document presented to Parliament duly captures the new fee structure.

He further expressed confidence that the reduction will be approved in the coming days, thanks to the numerical strength of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament.

“Thankfully, Ghanaians gave the NDC the emphatic numbers in Parliament to ensure this is approved in the coming days,” he wrote.

Mr. Ablakwa highlighted that, despite the decision to slash the cost of ordinary passports, the Ministry has introduced several reforms aimed at enhancing service delivery. These include faster, more professional, and efficient passport processing, especially through courier services.

He assured the public that the Mahama-led administration remains committed to fulfilling its promises, emphasizing the government’s dedication to making passport acquisition more accessible and citizen-friendly.

“The Mahama administration will always keep its promise to the good people of Ghana,” he added.
