The Ministry of the Interior has stated that Monday, August 4, 2025 will not be observed as a public holiday.
In a press release dated Thursday, July 31, 2025, the ministry cited the provisions of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days (Amendment) Act, 2025, affirming that only holidays listed in the approved statutory calendar will be observed nationwide.
The statement responds to public speculation surrounding August 4, previously marked as Founders’ Day, and now designated as a commemorative day, not warranting a day off.
The Ministry urged the public, corporate institutions, and educational bodies to take note and proceed with regular activities on that date.
