Mobile money (MoMo) transactions in Ghana reached a total value of GH¢323.2 billion in June 2025, according to the Bank of Ghana July 2025 Summary of Economic and Financial Data.

While this marks a 10.2% decline from the GH¢360 billion recorded in May, the year-on-year growth remains strong.

Compared to June 2024, when MoMo transactions totalled GH¢224 billion, the latest figures represent a GH¢99.2 billion increase, translating to an impressive 44.3% annual growth. This underscores the continued expansion and resilience of digital financial services in the country.

Transaction volumes also dipped slightly on a monthly basis, falling from 796 million in May to 735 million in June a 7.7% decrease.

However, the June 2025 volume is still significantly higher than the 644 million transactions recorded in the same month last year, reflecting a 14.1% year-on-year increase.

The report further revealed that the number of registered mobile money accounts has climbed to 76.4 million, with 24.5 million classified as active users.

Meanwhile, the float balance of the total amount of money held in mobile wallets rose to GH¢28.9 billion, indicating growing user confidence in mobile money platforms.

Despite the slight monthly decline, the data highlights the robust growth and deepening role of mobile money in Ghana’s financial ecosystem.
