The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has begun disbursing funds under the 97th cycle of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme, reaching 350, 580 households and impacting over 1.5 million individuals nationwide.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection stated that, this cycle includes top-up arrears from the previous round, following a 25% grant increase introduced in June to cushion beneficiaries against inflation.

“This payment is more than cash, it’s a commitment to restoring dignity and offering hope to the vulnerable” the Minister noted.

She revealed that, government has released GH₵150.1 million to support the disbursement.

According to Dr. Naa Momo Lartey, beneficiaries will receive between GH₵384 and GH₵636, depending on household size.

Dr. Lartey emphasized that the Ministry is working with the Ghana National Household Registry (GNHR) to update beneficiary data for better targeting and inclusion.

“We are building a society where everyone has a fair chance to succeed,” she added, reaffirming the government’s commitment under President John Dramani Mahama.

“We urge the media and public to help monitor the disbursement process to ensure transparency and accountability” she appealed.

The LEAP Programme supports extremely poor households with vulnerable members, including orphans, elderly persons, people with severe disabilities, and poor pregnant or lactating women.
