The Ghana Chamber of Mines has paid tribute to the eight victims of the tragic military Z-9 helicopter crash.

In a statement dated Thursday, August 7, the Chamber expressed its deep sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the Government of Ghana, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the families of those who died in the crash.

“We mourn the passing of these gallant Ghanaians who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their loss is a significant blow to the mining industry and to the nation as a whole,” the statement read in part.

The Chamber also recognized the vital roles played by the late ministers and other officials in the fight against illegal mining, noting that their collaboration was pivotal in safeguarding mining concessions, protecting water bodies, and ensuring the security of mining operations across Ghana.

The Ghana Chamber of Mines reaffirmed its commitment to honoring the legacy of the departed by continuing its mission to promote responsible mining practices and protect the environment.

“May the ultimate sacrifice of these eight gallant Ghanaians lead to an end to illegal and irresponsible mining,” the statement said.
