The Adansi Traditional Council, led by Opagyakotwere Bonsra Afiriyie II, has urged Ghanaians not to politicize the recent military helicopter crash that claimed eight lives at Sikaman Brofoyedru, near Obuasi in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

At an emergency meeting held today at the Bonsa Afiriyie Palace in Fomena, the Adansihene described the incident as a national tragedy and called on all citizens to unite in mourning, rather than divide along political lines.

Speaking at the gathering, Opagyakotwere Bonsra Afiriyie II stressed that the victims were on a national assignment when the tragedy occurred, and said the entire nation must come together to support their grieving families.

He described the loss as a heavy blow to President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the entire country.

On behalf of the Adansi Traditional Council and the people of Adansiman, the Omanhene expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

As part of the response, the council resolved to perform traditional rites, including the slaughtering of a sheep, to spiritually prevent future occurrences of such disasters in the country.
