The Ghana Armed Forces has paid tribute to Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, a distinguished pilot who lost his life in last week’s military helicopter crash.

In an official statement, the Forces described him as a highly skilled and dedicated officer who upheld the highest values of the service throughout his career.

Squadron Leader Anala trained extensively in Ghana and abroad, earning a Private Pilot Rotor License, an Instrument Rating, and a Commercial Pilot Rotor Helicopter License in Florida, USA. He also held a Master’s degree in Air Transportation and Aviation from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and pursued specialised training in digital and technological challenges, accident investigation, and safety at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom.

Beyond his professional achievements, he was celebrated as a mentor to young officers and an inspiration to aspiring pilots. To his family, he was a devoted husband and father; to his colleagues, a man of faith, integrity, and humility.

The statement described his death as “an irreplaceable loss to the service and the nation,” noting that his legacy will continue to inspire generations.

Squadron Leader Anala was among those who perished in the tragic crash during an official mission.
