The Techiman North District office of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has enrolled the second batch of beneficiaries for its three-week training programme as Community Assistant Police and Assistant Fire personnel.

The initiative is part of a larger programme where the YEA is partnering with the Ghana Police Service to recruit and train some 12, 000 youths across the country to support law enforcement. The purpose of the training, according to the implementers of the initiative, YEA and the Ghana Police Service, is to enhance community safety and provide employment opportunities for the many young people in Ghana.

Beneficiaries would undergo training in basic policing and intelligence gathering as well as basic fire safety protocols.

The trainees, upon completion, will provide much-needed support to the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service.

Speaking at the send-off to their various training centers, the District Director of YEA, Mr. Samuel Agyei, assured the youth that, with the guidance and support of the President, the Member of Parliament for Techiman North, and the District Chief Executive, the YEA would continue to work tirelessly to reduce unemployment in the district.

“The government is working hard to provide decent jobs for our young people, and this training is one of the many interventions to achieve that goal,” Mr. Agyei stated.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the President, the MP, the DCE, and the Techiman North YEA office for giving them an opportunity to build a career in the security services.
