His feat set the tone for a thrilling Day 2 of the CAA Region II Senior Athletics Championship in Accra.

Nigeria, however, underlined their dominance on the track. Their men’s 4x100m relay team stormed to gold with a time of 39.74s, edging out Ghana for the top spot. In the women’s 4x100m final, Nigeria again grabbed gold ahead of Burkina Faso (silver) and Ghana (bronze).

Elsewhere, Ghana’s Arthur Kevin Paintsil delivered a brilliant run to claim silver in the men’s 100m final, though Nigeria once again completed a clean sweep of the top two positions. In the men’s 400m, Nigeria picked up both gold and silver, leaving Ghana to settle for bronze.

In middle-distance action, Benin triumphed in the men’s 1500m, with Ghana taking silver and Togo bronze. Burkina Faso’s Sita Sibiri stole the show in the women’s 400m, as Ghana’s Naayirima Nasong unfortunately finished last.

The two-day championship, which began yesterday (August 18), wraps up today, August 19. More results are expected, and current standings remain subject to change as events continue.
