The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has directed the Ministry of Education to stop paying responsibility allowances to eight staff members of the Lambussie District Education Directorate within 60 days, citing payments made for no work done.
The order follows findings in the 2024 Auditor-General’s Report, which revealed that GH¢66,000 had been disbursed to staff under questionable circumstances.
Appearing before PAC on Friday, August 22, the Directorate’s Accountant, Roland Boteek, confirmed partial recovery of the funds.
“So far, we have recovered GH¢10,000,” Boteek told the Committee.
The remaining balance is yet to be retrieved, and PAC has urged swift action to prevent further financial loss.
