The Member of Parliament for Nkwanta South, Geoffrey Kini, is urging the contractor on the Bontibor Bridge project to return to site and fix the collapsed structure.
Heavy rains destroyed the bridge, which was built just last year. The damage has cut off residents from markets, schools and health services.
The bridge, first awarded in 2016, remains a vital link for communities moving goods across the area. But since the collapse, daily life has been disrupted, and fears are growing over unsafe alternative routes.
Mr. Kini, who toured the site with the Municipal Chief Executive Joseph Antwi Awal and NADMO Director Gesuokon Bright, blasted the contractor for shoddy work. He said the people of Bontibor, Salifu-Krom and nearby communities cannot remain stranded because of negligence.
The MP is also appealing to the Roads Minister to release funds so the contractor can move back to site quickly and restore the bridge.
Meanwhile, residents say the collapsed bridge has made life unbearable. They complain that they struggle to reach markets and hospitals and want urgent repairs.
