Supporters of Former Education Minister, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum, have appealed to delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to entrust him with the party’s flagbearership ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Speaking to Happyghana.com on Thursday, August 28, while awaiting his arrival to submit his nomination forms, the supporters highlighted Dr. Adutwum’s record as Education Minister as a major reason he stands tall among other contenders vying for the position in the January 31, 2026 primaries.

One supporter, who identified himself as Jonathan, praised Dr. Adutwum’s role in transforming Ghana’s education sector.

“Dr. Adutwum played a key role in the successful implementation of Free Senior High School and also championed STEM education under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. With this solid track record, he is the right man to lead the NPP to victory in 2028,” he said.

He further urged delegates and supporters of the various candidates to engage in issue-based campaigning rather than resorting to insults.

“We are all members of the same NPP family. People may be contesting for the same position, but at the end of the day, we should focus on policies and facts, not attacks,” he advised.

Jonathan also called for unity after the primaries, stressing that the ultimate goal should be the victory of the NPP.

“Whether your candidate wins or not, we must all rally behind the chosen flagbearer, because the bigger interest is the success of our great party,” he added.
