The Ministry of Health has announced a 50 percent reduction in admission fees for Nursing and Allied Health Training students, effective from the 2025/2026 academic year.
The initiative forms part of government’s newly introduced “No-Fee-Stress” policy for tertiary students, aimed at easing the financial burden on parents and learners across the country.
In a statement signed by Tony Goodman, Deputy Director and Spokesperson for the Ministry, government indicated that it will absorb about half of the approved fees for all first-year students enrolled in Nursing and Allied Health Training Institutions.
“All institutions are strictly required to adhere to the approved fees and items as communicated by the Ministry. No institution is permitted to charge above the approved amount or demand payment for items covered under the policy,” the statement emphasized.
The Ministry described the move as a fulfillment of President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to support parents and students who aspire to pursue academic and professional careers in the health sector.
Principals of Health Training Institutions have been cautioned to comply fully with the directive, with the Ministry warning that any heads who impose unauthorized charges “do so at their own peril.”
The Ministry further reiterated its commitment to promoting equitable access to health training education and directed all training institutions to begin the necessary processes for admitting students for the upcoming academic year.
