Black Stars defender Tariq Lamptey has completed a move to Serie A side Fiorentina, signing a four-year deal.
The Viola secured the 23-year-old right-back from Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal worth £6 million.
Lamptey will add depth to Vincenzo Italiano’s squad, providing competition for Brazilian full-back Dodô, while also offering versatility with his ability to play on either flank.
Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler praised Lamptey’s professionalism, saying:
“He’s been a valued player throughout his time, but more than that, he is a brilliant professional and person. This is a good opportunity for him to play both Serie A and European football. On behalf of everyone at the club, I’d like to wish him all the very best for the future.”
Lamptey first joined Brighton in 2020 from Chelsea, going on to make over 100 appearances and earning a reputation for his blistering pace and attacking style. However, injuries stalled his progress in recent seasons, restricting him to just 15 Premier League games last campaign, though he still managed two goals and several assists.
The move comes as Lamptey prepares to link up with Ghana’s national team. He is part of Otto Addo’s 24-man Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali on September 4 and 8 respectively
