Commercial Transport Operators across the Greater Accra Region have commended the government for its ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure, specifically highlighting the progress made on the Ofankor-Nsawam road project.

In a statement issued on Thursday September 4, 2025 the group expressed deep appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama, the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, and Deputy Minister Alhassan Suhuyini for what they described as “unwavering commitment” to ensuring motorable roads for all Ghanaians.

“The Ofankor-Nsawam stretch has long been a source of frustration for transport operators and commuters alike,” the statement read. “Thanks to the swift action taken to bring contractors on board, the road is now significantly improved, easing travel and enhancing safety.”

The group noted that the improved condition of the road has had a direct impact on their operations, making it easier to conduct business and reducing travel time for passengers.

They praised the leadership of the President and the Roads Ministry, saying their dedication is felt daily by those who rely on the nation’s highways.

“We say ‘Ayekooo!’ to the President, the Minister, and his Deputy for their tireless efforts,” the statement continued. “Their work is not only appreciated it is transforming lives.”

The operators also called on the government to maintain its momentum in expanding and maintaining the country’s road network.

They expressed confidence that with continued leadership and investment, Ghana’s transportation sector will become more efficient and resilient.

The Ofankor-Nsawam road project is part of a broader national initiative to improve infrastructure and facilitate economic growth through enhanced mobility and logistics.
