Minister of Lands and Natural Resources Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah has shared plans of upcoming ventures by the government of Ghana to explore the trade potential of various natural resources other than gold.

The Minister, speaking as a guest speaker at the Africa Down Under Conference in Perth, Australia presented a renewed vision for mining in Ghana. “We are determined to ensure our mineral wealth translates into tangible improvements for our people, building better schools, stronger hospitals, and creating decent jobs for the next generation.” he said in a social media post shortly after his address.

Armah Buah spelt out more details of the vision in his post, where he stated that the government, seeks to “build integrated industries around our bauxite, iron, steel, and lithium resources to power both our national development and the global clean energy future.”

He called upon all representing diplomats for various countries to tap into the promising mining sector by making investments to expand Ghana’s economic capacity and tighten diplomatic ties through international trade with other countries in Africa. “As we open our doors to investment, we are committed to partnerships that prioritise responsible and sustainable practices, ensuring that value is added right here at home.”

The 23rd Africa Down Under (ADU) conference began today in Perth, running from 3–5 September 2025 at the Pan Pacific Hotel. ADU continues its role as the premier platform for strengthening business and government ties between Africa and Australia in mining and energy
