Ghana came close to securing three points against Chad but were pegged back by a last-minute equalizer in a 1-1 draw at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno in N’Djamena.

Jordan Ayew gave the Black Stars an early lead in the 17th minute, capitalizing on a fine assist from Mohammed Kudus. Ghana dominated possession early on and created several chances but failed to extend their lead. Teenage striker Caleb Yirenkyi missed a clear opportunity when he shot over from inside the penalty area.

The first half ended with Ghana in control, but they couldn’t convert further chances, including a missed opportunity by Antoine Semenyo just before halftime.

The second half saw a drop in intensity, with fatigue affecting both teams. Kudus came close to doubling Ghana’s lead in the 66th minute, his curling shot narrowly missing the target. Coach Otto Addo introduced Kamaldeen Sulemana and Christopher Bonsu Baah late in the game to inject fresh energy.

However, in the 89th minute, Chad’s Celestine Ecua scored a stunning goal to level the match and earn his team a valuable point, their first in the qualifiers.

Ghana remains top of Group I but missed the chance to strengthen their position as other group matches continue.
