Central Region: Eight dead, five injured in accident at Kormantse

A fatal accident on the Cape Coast–Accra Highway has left eight people dead and five others injured, including a child and the driver of a truck.

The crash occurred around 3:50 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025.

The collision involved a Mercedes Benz with the registration number AS 4146-25 heading to Cape Coast and a Hino truck also with a registration number GW 5958-25 en route to Accra.

Firefighters from the Mankessim Fire Station extricated two victims who were trapped and believed to have died instantly.

The injured were transported to a nearby health facility for treatment.

The accident scene has since been cleared and the road reopened.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
