The Nkoranza North District Assembly has disbursed items and financial support worth over GH¢100,000 to 33 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) under the District Assemblies Common Fund.

The package, presented by District Chief Executive Effah Patrick (Patoo) and Member of Parliament Joseph Kwasi Mensah, in collaboration with the District’s Social Welfare Directorate, included deep freezers, sewing machines, fufu machines, and cash grants. The support is aimed at promoting self-reliance, income-generating activities, education, and healthcare needs for beneficiaries.

Joseph Kwasi Mensah stressed that the Disability Fund Management Committee will conduct monitoring to ensure items are used profitably. He urged beneficiaries to adopt good record-keeping habits for sustainable business growth.

“The lives of PWDs are very important; that is why government allocated 3% of the Common Fund to support them. I advise beneficiaries to use the items for their intended purpose and not sell them,” the MP stated.

DCE Effah Patrick assured beneficiaries of continued government support, revealing that plans are already in place to begin construction of a dedicated working center and workshops for PWDs in the district.
