The Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly has appealed for local and foreign investors to support the development of the Duasidan Monkey Sanctuary into a major tourism destination in the Bono Region.

During a working visit to the site, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Dominic Adoma announced plans to improve road access and establish a health facility within the Duasidan enclave. He stressed the importance of partnerships, calling on both private investors and government agencies to harness the sanctuary’s economic potential.

“We need strong collaboration to transform Duasidan into a tourism hub that benefits not just Dormaa, but the entire country,” the MCE stated.

Mr. Adoma further revealed that the Assembly intends to work with the Dormaa East and Dormaa West Districts to revamp other tourist attractions, including the Canopy Walk at Dormaa East, the Diabaa Forest Reserve at Dormaa West, and the Abanpredease Palace at Dormaa Ahenkro. The initiative, he said, aims to position the Dormaa area as the tourism heart of the Bono Region.

Meanwhile, Kwabena Kyeremeh, a caretaker at the sanctuary, appealed for immediate support to sustain the monkeys. He explained that the animals currently rely on food provided by visitors and local well-wishers, while he and his colleague both long-serving caretakers receive no government pay and depend solely on small tokens from tourists.
