Lawless Community Police Assistants Will Be Dismissed – Asutifi South DCE

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asutifi South in the Ahafo Region, Benjamin Assabil Donkor, has issued a strong warning to community police assistants under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), cautioning them against engaging in unlawful activities.

Speaking at a ceremony in Hwidiem, where 29 individuals were officially handed over to the Ghana Police Service and 18 to the Ghana National Fire Service to begin their duties, Mr. Donkor emphasized that any acts of lawlessness by these recruits will not be tolerated.

He noted with concern that some community police assistants in the past have abused their positions by engaging in illegal acts under the guise of police authority, thereby tarnishing the image of the security services. He stated that under his leadership, any YEA beneficiary attached to any of the security agencies who misuse the opportunity will face severe disciplinary action, including dismissal.

“We will not allow a few individuals to ruin the integrity of our security services. Anyone caught engaging in lawlessness will be dealt with ruthlessly,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, the Ahafo Regional Director of the YEA, Awudu Razak, revealed that the agency has established a Monitoring and Evaluation Committee to ensure accountability and effectiveness. He stated that the committee will conduct monthly visits to assess the performance of beneficiaries at their respective stations.

Mr. Razak further warned that beneficiaries who fail to report to duty without valid reasons will forfeit their allowances. Continued absenteeism, he added, may lead to outright dismissal.

This is a serious opportunity. If you do not take your work seriously, there will be consequences,” he said.

The initiative aims to not only provide employment for the youth but also support essential public services through discipline, commitment, and professionalism.
