The Member of Parliament for Bantama, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has firmly denied allegations made in a viral social media video suggesting that he dismissed concerns over unpaid nursing trainee allowances during an election period.

In the video, a young woman claiming to be a student nurse alleged that Mr. Asenso-Boakye told her, “if she won’t vote because her allowance has not been paid, then that is fine.”

However, in a press statement issued on Thursday, October 2, Mr. Asenso-Boakye described the claims as false, baseless, and a deliberate attempt to drag is name into needless political propaganda.

Mr. Asenso-Boakye stressed that there is no nursing training institution within the Bantama constituency, noting that although Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital has a nursing school, it does not fall under his constituency.

He further explained that throughout his public service career as a legislator, former Minister of State, and Deputy Chief of Staff at the Presidency, he has never been responsible for managing nursing trainee allowances or held any direct portfolio in the health sector.

“It is therefore strange, incoherent, and deeply misleading for my name to be associated with this matter,” he stated.

He urged the public to disregard the allegations and appealed for the identity of the lady in the video to be made known. He emphasized his commitment to focusing on his duties as a legislator and contributing to national development.
