The Bono Regional Police Command has begun investigations into a robbery and murder at Frimps Filling Station in Abesim, located within the Sunyani East Municipality.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, October 6, 2025, led to the death of a security guard identified as Akwasi Addai, believed to be in his late sixties.

In a statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah on Tuesday, October 7, police said the victim was discovered lifeless on the porch of a nearby shop with severe head injuries.

Preliminary findings suggest that unidentified attackers broke into the filling station and made away with cash from an office used for electricity and mobile money transactions. The robbers also ransacked the manager’s office and attempted to force open a safe.

A crime scene team recovered a blood-stained axe and a wooden club believed to have been used in the attack.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The Bono Regional Police Command has assured the public that a manhunt is underway to apprehend the culprits and ensure they face justice.
